We can do that in Albion too as we need farmers to raise crops and livestock, gatherers to provide our crafters with materials etc who in turn provide the soldiers with weapons and armour. Some joined as townsfolk or citizens rather than guardsmen and carried out gathering of crafting roles. Many joined as guardsmen and we would patrol, kill monsters, do events etc. (In Albion this would have to be our guild island as open world building is not available other than in cities). A community was formed around a city in UO (Yew) where a township of buildings was built up. The trusty sword and shield, or halberd, or bow were the weapons of choice. GRD distrust magic and its use was forbidden. People signed up As a trainee and would move through various ranks whilst carrying out guardsman duties in a RP environment. The emphasis was on the simple life of a guardsman. The theory behind it was pure role play (ie we were always always in character when speaking in game, although could chat normally in guild chat) in a militia style guild. GRD was the guild abbreviation for a pure role playing guild in ultimate online. CALL TO ARMS!!! We need good strong lads and ladies to join our ranks today!!!
